Switched to new Host – SiteGround.com

Monday, March 31st, 2014

The last time I looked at my 1&1 logs blogseye had 92% 503 errors. This is not acceptable. I think most of them were the result of a DOS attack on my site on March 25th. CloudFlare handled most of that, but I think that 1and1 just crashed my site for a while.

SiteGround is supposed to be optimized for WordPress. It came out best for WordPress in a couple of recent shootouts, so I decided to go for the $7.95 deal and host a couple of websites there. I loose money on my site www.Harptab.com due to it crashing under stress. If the Blogseye domain stays up I’ll start moving all of the sites over.

SiteGround uses CPANEL. I like CPANEL, but I have been away from it for a while and I can’t find things easily, like the IP address of my websites. I am using cloudflare, but SiteGround lets you incorporate cloudflare into the hosting. I have to ponder this and decide whether it is better to stick with my cloudflare account or manage it through cpanel.
