I watch the Guru.com website. I hardly ever get jobs there, but it is interesting to see the kinds of things that people want programmers to do. Most of the get rich schemes are idiotic, especially since that if there was a way to make money the way these guys want to, the programmers they are trying to hire would have already done it. Most people want porn sites or dating sites or MLM sites. Some want to pay people to post spam on craigslist. All of them dumb ideas in a supersaturated marketplace.
One guy put up a project with a $100 budget titled “I want to make money with a website”. He was open to suggestions and he was willing to pay someone $100 to tell him how to do it. There were no other specs. I guess he wants to start a website and make money with it any way he can. I’ve been doing that for years and I make some money, but I have yet to retire on the income.
I am amazed at the number of people who are willing to pay for black hat SEO in order to send traffic to a stupid website where no one will every buy anything anyway.
I think that the best way to make money from a website is to collect $100 from a guy who wants to make money from a website.
