Stop Spammers Problems

I released a new version of Stop Spammers this week, and then had to release a bug fix real fast, and today I had to release another bug fix.

I checked the first version for over a week on 6 blogs before I released it.

I did a quick check of the second release on 4 blogs for an hour or two.

I checked the last release for about 10 minutes on my test blog.

See the pattern?

I need to do more testing, but even when I try testing for a week, there are bugs that slip through. The problem with the last two releases was that the bug fixes made new bugs.

Also, I should test from scratch. I need to completely delete the plugin and check that the options entry is gone from mysql. Only then can I test the plugin from installation to decommission.

I hope this last version is good and I did not annoy too many people. I think it is a good plugin and prevents spammer registrations, while the other plugins try to identify the spam after the spammer has wandered in an unlocked door. This also prevents spam at the time the spammer is entering it, but that is a nice side effect and not the main reason for the plugin. Akismet does fine with spam.

That sucks. SFS should get some revenue and Adsense is the best way, but adsense should not be hitting the site like that.

It also explains why I didn’t see the problem. I test largely in firefox and I have adblock turned on so I don’t see any ads.

Everything is clear, Adsense on stopforumspam.com is the culprit.

    Keith, no, no, no…
I have deleted all previous comments and cleared the cache.
Here there is no possibility of report the earlier comment.
Please contact me via email, I’ll show you exactly how it looks.

    thanks

Not me. It only reports once. You must be clicking the link more than once. The StopForumSpam window stays open and is reused, so it might be behind the blog window. Close the SFS window and then you won’t have any problem.

I sometimes forget to clear the spam after reporting it and then it gets reported again the next time I come in.

    “Report to SFS” multiplies reports.
Sometimes inserted correctly, sometimes the one report inserted two or even three times.

I saw that. I’ll fix it in the next release.

There is a but in the latest version…
It sayes Check FSF, instead of Check SFS under the comments.
