This program will walk you through installing awstats on 1and1 hosting accounts. This will only work for Linux hosting and the Business and Developer Plans. Unfortunately, the beginner and home plans do not allow setting cron jobs so the stats cannot be gathered.
The program copies the awstats program from SourceForge.net and installs it in a directory called awstats. It then creates a configuration file with the proper settings for 1and1 hosting and creates the automated task to update the database at midnight.
Currently the program installs awstats version 6.95. There may be a newer version of awstats. If this program is out of date it should be updated or a newer version downloaded from https://www.blogseye.com/
I deleted the download. It seems that 1and1 now prohibits running crontab from PHP.
I put in a support ticket. I am not sure why crontab was disabled, but it appeared to have disappeared from the 1and1 admin menus and now it is back
Here is the link (I even fixed a bug) Simple Awstats Installer
To install this program just ftp it to your web root (where your website files are located). The program will create a subdirectory with the name of awstats. The program will fail if there already is a directory with that name. If you want to run this program from a subdirectory it will still work.
When you reach the last step and the awstats webpage comes up, do not forget to bookmark the page. You can update the page manually by clicking the “Update now” link at the top of the awstats page.
This program does not gather prior months statistics, which can be done using SSH, but does not work correctly from PHP due to 1and1 restrictions.
