Ebay Partner Networks New Plugin -update

I used to do well with Ebay Partner Networks, but Ebay changed the way the affiliate program works and it is near impossible for a small site to make money with it anymore.

I have been tweaking my EPN plugin trying to find a way to make money again, but my sales have been zero for a couple of months in spite of thousands of clicks. I thought it might have been something I had done so I opened a new account under a different name and email, but there was no difference. I cancelled the account after a couple of weeks.

I googled the problem and discovered that it was an issue with ebay timing their cookies to a limit of 24 hours.

My latest tweak is to only show auctions ending in the next 24 hours. This way any purchase should qualify for a commission. I also changed the product landing page to the actual auction page rather than the waste of time summary page that their RSS feed uses.

I installed the plugin on 5 sites and I will watch to see if it makes a difference.

UPDATE**************************************8

Three days later – averaging 3 or 4 dollars a day after months of zero. I think I have the formula.
So far only low $ sales, but I expect from time to time that some big ticket items will bump up the average.

  1. Thanks for the quick answer Keith, I surmised that when I read the other posts on the plugin.

I can hack PHP. I’ll keep it in mind down the track if I end up going back to website monetisation and marketing.

Sadly the sploggers (and Google’s responses) have ruined a lot of the small long-tail revenue for niche sites. I used to have a site that generated a couple of hundred dollars a month that made it fun to keep it updated.

No it isn’t. I set the options by reprogramming the plugin. It has no working settings page. You could put it on your page, but it would only show different kinds of vintage amplifiers selected using different searches. You would have to change all the search parameters to make it work using PHP programming.

Someday I might make it available.

  3. Is this plugin available to download?
