Stats from new plugin

The new plugin has a link to the rss feed here. I can tell who is accessing the feed through WordPress by skimming through my logs. The results are interesting.

Today I had a couple of thousand downloads of the plugin, but I got 210 reads of the feed xml file. This means that about 1 in 10 people go to the plugin setting screen after installing or updating the plugin.

This can be expected from people doing automatic plugin installs. I wonder, though, how many people are doing installations and not paying any attention to the plugin settings?

  1. I expect many casual WP users activate a plugin thinking “Oh that sounds cool” and then can’t easily see it’s configuration/settings page.
